Non-poc/asian kpop fans need to hear this...

Yes, it's very normalized for us international fans to vote on 'visuals' in kpop, and yes it's okay to have your own *personal* opinion.

It is still incredibly fucking weird for non-pocs/asians to actually think they have a fucking say, in how 'attractive' poc/asians are.

It's just very weird, especially since we all know who the beauty standard is based off of.

Plus, as most kpop fans are not korean. Your opinion doesn't matter anyways


Neither does mine. But unlike the majority of fans, I can actually acknowledge that.

This also applies to titles as 'koreans it girl, it boy etc' If you are not korean, nor do you live in korea, your opinion is irrelevant. <3

Personally I think Kpop companies need to get rid of the word ‘visual’ as a position within groups. It’s never sat right with me and is purely there for marketing.

I agree. It's one thing for someone to be the 'face' of the group, hence someone you usually visualize when thinking of the group. But a 'visual' pratically implying they're only for looks and an invitation for people to comment on /compare their looks.

Yeah, plus it almost forces the person to ‘maintain’ that visual position (aka unhealthy diets, or even plastic surgery)

The weird thing with me is, when I think of face of the group, my mind automatically goes to whoever’s the leader. They’re the ones who start the intros/outros and generally first to make speeches, so they’re naturally the first person I think of.

yeah. there are a lot of heavely problematic stuff that is normalised. so kpop needs to be restructured if we bring in these changes.

I just feel a lot of non-pocs shouldn't have a say in things like 'visuals' and non-koreans on korean 'titles.' It's just weird to me... especially since most of it can turn 'problematic' real fast.
