I wish I could ask my gramma if this was true, bc she was a young adult in 1943, but she's been dead now since 2012. She was a big storyteller, so I imagine she'd have a lot to say about it.

They probably would sell those either, part of the reason for the ban was to save steel and that would be a bit counterproductive

It was to ration things like steel and wax paper by not making the cutters and not using wax paper in the process
