making entertainment out of real people's suffering will never make sense to me because you can always write FICTIONAL stories about murders instead of profiting off victims whose families and friends are still there. and honestly i know a lot of people will disagree with me but i absolutely do not get why anyone would consider themselves a "true crime enthusiast" or whatever. to each their own, but there is absolutely nothing exciting or interesting about people who had their whole lives ahead of themselves being brutally murdered. if someone likes mysteries or being scared there are thousands of good fictional stories in the genre of crime and horror you can spend your time on instead of disgusting monsters who don't deserve any attention.
