Beauty fades, good music is eternal.
I wouldn't call Janis Joplin ugly but what do we remember today and what will music fans remember in 50 years and even 100 years? That she didn't fit any beauty standards and didn't look like a model? Or that she brought us amazing music - songs that many Rock fans will probably listen to until the end of mankind?
I also have the feeling that the Korean and Western Pop music industry often forget something very important: charisma comes from the within!
