German has a word for their cats that can be used as a cute way to refer to them. It’s “stubentiger”, which can be broken down into stube (living room) and tiger, which is the same spelling as English. Living room tiger really does seem so fitting for house cats

It seems that they both can mean living room, stube is a bit of an older word while Wohnzimmer is the more official or formal one Kind of like how in English you can also refer to a living room as a parlor, drawing room, or sitting room, though those terms can feel outdated

Looking it up, it seems they made the word that long on purpose. The whole point is that it's ridiculously long
