This reminded a scene from Hikaru no Go I was watching randomly the other day.

One guy that lost the game was deciding if he was going to take the bus, making it have to wait, then he says sorry and that he'll go home walking instead.

Then the bus driver understands what happened and says it'll be fine, he will do better in the tournament next year
