What I don't really get is why Rock music was banned and Rap music became really popular?
Rock music in the west was associated with drinking, having a rebellious attitude, non-conformity, aggression, etc, but Rap music was also associated with gun violence, crime, rape, etc.
Like Eminem for example mostly rapped about hating and hurting his wife and mother. 50 Cent was shot about 9 times apparently and him having a big feud with Ja Rule.
Yet, Rap music is so popular in Kpop but Rock music isn't.

There really wasn't any rap music to ban back then
Rock music, at the time it was banned, was still associated with extreme sexuality, drug use, satanism and cults.
Rap music was still it's extremely early years by the time and the era that you're think of didn't come about until the mid-late 90s
