My mom’s a math tutor and she had one kid the other day try to cheat on an exam. This kid is in 5th grade, so likely 10-11 years old. The kid opens the test and immediately exclaims that it’s too hard (He was the only one, so he wasn't disturbing other students). In a bit, he asks to go to the bathroom, and my mom sees him slip his phone in his pocket. She’s like okay, whatever, not subtle. The kid comes back and the exchange goes like this:
Kid: “So, can I put down an answer without the work?”
my mom: “How did you get said answer?”
Kid: “I got it in my head”
my mom: “What did you do in your head?”
Kid: “I don’t know, I just did it in my head! The answer is 5/8ths, try it and you’ll see!”
At which point my mom tells the kid that if he wants to cheat he needs to do a better job at it
The kid also asked my mom for a folder at one point because he “doesn’t like when my mom looks at him”
