Am I the only one who doesn't like short albums???

I was listening to The Dreaming by Monsta X once, amazing album btw, but it's 28 mins but listed as an album? I just find it weird because if anything, that's EP length yk? This is more of an outlier, but I've realised most K-pop albums I listen to are ~30 mins: Drippin's Villian the end is 30 mins, Enhypen's dimension dilemma is 20 mins long, Snsd's forever 1 is 33 mins. Like these are all great albums but these could easily be fleshed out with more songs or be relabelled to EPs and I wouldn't bat an eye. And do not bring up Cravity's The awekening, I just consider those EPs.

That being said, I know there are longer albums in K-pop: Exodus is ~40 mins long, so is fx's pink tape, and Infinite's Be Back is 52 mins long (!!!). These albums are amazing! They all have a certain vibe to them that all make them unique. So I'm just wondering if this is like a me problem? I know to some people EPs are the way but idk I think it would be nice to see longer albums in 4th gen cause I haven't seen much; All the long albums I mentioned are early 3rd gen/4th gen.

45 minutes is a reasonable max imo.
Harder to find these days. 2022 was the year of the interminable sprawl.

(speaking outside of kpop here. in terms of kpop, idk, there's a lot of eps, the full albums are never good to me)

damn its already over

when i start a new album while on my walk to work and its already over before i even get to the place, i am sad lol.

45 mins makes sense imo, I think 40 mins should be the average personally

it’s sometimes not so much the album length itself but the length of the songs. Like Nayeon - Im Nayeon has really good songs but I’m left kind of unsatisfied listening to them because of the lengths of them. If some of them were just a tad bit longer, listening to it would be a wayyyy more satisfying experience. Same could be said about a few songs on Th Dreaming.

I think though with streaming culture, the short lengths make it easier to stream many songs in a quicker succession, so that might be why sometimes music skews this way. I’m happy to celebrate achievements but the listening experience is more valuable to me.

And yeah that's what I think. I think the rise of playlists also has something to do with it, why listen to an album when you can just add it to a playlist with other songs yk? Even EPs are getting too little, like Fearless does not have to be 4 songs, Newjeans too.

As long as they are good, I have no problem! I rarely go back and listen to a full album becasue of all the playlist I make.

Honestly I feel like short albums are OK if the comebacks are frequent. For example even though newjeans have barely any songs in their "albums" it doesn't annoy me too much because their comebacks aren't too far apart and it allows me to enjoy everything. But I won't lie it is quite disappointing to see how short txt's albums are becoming, especially considering they only seem to comeback once every year now 😕
Hopefully the short releases are just because of the tour and soon they release more 🙏🏾
