what points made you feel hopeless and how did you over come it?

All of english made me ust feel like the stupidest person on earth, It still does because I know how to use many things now, but I don't...i feel like i should get it better, like language is supposed to be fluid, not just "apply this rule, then that one". So I feel... fake I guess, especially since I know I can't speak it well

The more I think about it, always the more nervous I become, I really think I am to stupid to advance though, has anyone else had this despair? was it over come?

speaking of I should probably do my english homework :jisoosmh: :jisoosmh: I'm so tired that its still eaarly but i wanna sleep, and there's still so much to do

Well I try to remember the reason I'm learning it. And for fluidity, the best thing to do is... practice. It's classic, you'll make mistake, but then you'll forget about rules and you'll be more natural

I don't know if I have felt hopeless, but that i'm not good enough. Tbh my English teacher at high school was opposite of supportive, i had rehearsed this speech days and after it she said i guess it's ok but i couldn't understand anything and just before i had my finals she said my english essay that was supposed to be for test for the finals was just mess :joshmeh: Hated that teacher, she never said anything contructive to me.

Though I'm wondering how i pulled it off now.. like my finals actually went really well, not that it was perfect but better than i thought. I guess you just try your best regardless? What comes to English I know mine isn't grammatically best, but i kinda don't think that any more I just write it like I don't think grammar rules when I write or anything like that I'm thinking what I want to say. My spoken English is even more horrible with my very Finnish accent and It's rly frustrating if ur not understood, but it's not end of the world and just using language is best way to get more familiar with it.

With english... for me the way to getting it as natural as I can get it was to read a shit ton of books, watch a shit ton of movies and youtube videos and then top it all off with lessons where I wrote essays etc... Try to speak english more often if you can as well.

Things like that really help. If you dislike your accent in english (which I did too) you can always learn a new one. There are tutorials on the internet.

I never really felt hopeless with learning languages. The only thing close would be learning all the latin vocabs for tests :umjicry:

Same. English was a whole mess for me...
It was mainly difficult because I have a learning disorder but, yeah...

Did you know when you say 'touch' your lips don't touch but, when you say separate they DO touch...

Darn it, English language.

Depends what you start with i guess, I always found swedish lot easier since the grammar is simpler and there isn't exceptions. Whole english language is full of exceptions and irregulars from grammar to pronounciation :jisoosmh: If only English was phonetically consistent speaking it would be lot easier.

so i've heard :o what do you think makes your language so difficult
There are many impracticable rules, illogic accents and words with unecessary letters.

They tried to fix some stuff recently, but people didnt like it very much lol

My biggest struggle when learning Korean is when I realize how slowly I learn things, it's been quite a few months that I've been learning and I'm just now comfortable with reading most Korean (Compound consonants are annoying) and I'm just now learning how to put sentences together and expanding vocabulary. But it took me almost 9 months to get to that so I just get really stressed when I think of how slowly I learn it all. How I get over that is I just keep telling myself that I've still learned quite a bit and tell myself that I know a lot more than I used to and that keeps me going.

i just take a break from things when it feels like i’m getting stuck, and then i get back when i’m feeling motivated again :P

learning languages can be fun, but it’s sure not an easy process

talking with people who speak that language really helps though, and i’m doing that rn lol
