Thoughts on Doodle Dogs? (1 Viewer)

They are the new fad and just about every neighborhood has at least one. I don't foresee it slowing down at any time either! So what are your thoughts on them?

I'd be a lot more positive if it wasn't for two reasons:
1. It's obvious that most are being bred as a quick gashgrab. Bernedoodles are practically guaranteed to have failing hips but they are being sold like hotcakes
2. There are so many folks that think it's ok to only groom theirs once a year? It's literal torture but is seen daily in my grooming groups


I find them sweet dogs, but they often get unfortunate luck

she's huge, when she stands she can reach my shoulders and just hang on me like a hug 😭 she's the sweetest dog ever, very happy 🥺 big dog that thinks they're a lap dog bc she willll sit on you.
he's had her for a few years now, love herrrr

Pretty much anything crossed with a Poodle. I'm surprised at someone having never heard of them!

Yeah pretty much. Although they started as an attempt to breed a service dog that was big enough for one specific handler and didn't trigger their allergies. Since then things have gone off the rails but hey, if I see one in a shelter I might just adopt the little genetic dumpster fire

I feel bittersweet about it.
They have definitely becomes dogs people shop for the more and more. I had a mini goldendoodle for close to 4 and a half years.
I know several people who have doodles and the health issues are there, take note and pay attention to anything that seems off. My child was pretty sensitive in the stomach area since day one. His first year, he easily got the runny butts. Any time vaccines came around, his recovery took a little longer than most.

The worse health crisis happened way too suddenly. The cause of it was unknown and all I could sum up from my own research was it potentially being hereditary. We found out he had an immune mediated anemia but it was a little too late and the medication the hospital put him on caused him to become DKA. It all sort of happened in the span of 40 days and then we decided we needed to let him go and let him be at peace which was just a few weeks ago. My poor baby was hurting and that was the hardest decision I've ever had to make.


The health risks are there with these mixed bred pups and some will have it worse than others. I dont support the continuous breeding of them. There's plenty of curly baby breeds with the same temperament and trainability you can find. If you choose to buy, please do your research on the breeders and only get from a reputable breeder otherwise if you can, please adopt.

I've been looking into doodle adoption places. Promises my pup a sibling and he'll get one even if it's a little late.

People like this dont deserve their pup. That's abuse. Matting can get tighter and tighter if you dont groom them enough. It can cause skin infections and diseases. Seriously, what is wrong with some people.
