I think self diagnoses should never be a replacement from a professional diagnoses, but if there is no possible way for you to get one, then you can self diagnose, as long as you have fully educated yourself on the mental illness.

I agree. Sometimes it's not possible to get a professional diagnosis for whatever reason so deciding that you most likely (as long as you're aware that you may be wrong) have some sort of mental illness then its okay if youre trying to look at some ways to cope. That being said you shouldn't be using this to seek out medication or anything that can do harm to you if misused because thats way to dangerous without professionals.

Tbh, I think it can be helpful in figuring out what is going on with you. When you do things can be less scary and you might realize there is other people dealing with similar stuff.

And not even only with mental health but with physical sometimes. Idk why, but I haven't had best encounters with doctors and although I'm certain I had migraines as teen (all my family members were certain I had those too), I wasn't diagnosed for them. I did go to doctor and got CT scan to make sure it wasn't something acute. After that the doctor was just obsessed with my weight and didn't care I had bad migraines and would have needed some help to deal with them as they were scary as they were painful. Thank god I don't have those anymore.

I think doctors are helpful though to find out if sth you have is life threatening or if you need prescription medication. But in terms of diagnoses they can be hit and miss. You might have to go through many to get right diagnose and you at least know yourself better than bad doctor knows you- as they usually dont' even try to get to know you :dubuthink:

I would never diagnosis without a professional opinion.
Though I was mistakenly misdiagnosed once.

Mostly because I don't know much about all the mental illnesses out there.

I think it’s always better to get multiple opinions
