Throwing baby puffins off cliffs is a yearly tradition in Iceland (1 Viewer)

In late summer/early fall in Iceland, young puffins fly from their burrows in the cliffs to the sea, following the moon. In the modern day, puffins can mistake city lights for the moon, causing them to get disoriented and end up stuck in cities. When this happens, people in the cities find the babies and throw them off the cliffs so that they can continue their journey to the sea.
