Sooooo my initial flight that had a layover got delayed and I had to pick an alternative flight so I wouldn’t miss my connection.

My first flight was fine and I got the window.

my second flight I had no confirmed seat and I couldn’t even have the option to pick or upgrade my seat despite seeing available seats on the seat map.
I get to my second flight, still told I’ll be assigned the seat when boarding starts.
my seat number finally appears and it’s the worst seat imaginable.
A middle seat in the 40s.

I plant my ass thinking whatever. I’ll still land on time and can watch Barbie before my brother and cousins drive up.
My flight is delayed by an hour putting a wrench in the Barbie solo plan.

so I went from the perfect seats both window landing early enough to check in, watch a movie, and pick up stuff at the Grocery store
To Paying for a window seat and a second unconfirmed middle all the way in the back seat and delayed already 3 hours later than what I had initially planned.

I know. The world ain’t ending and not like I’m missing anything important. But I really wanted this “me” time before chaos started.​

If it makes you feel any better my mom had the flights from hell when she visited me while I was living in Australia

Her Delta flight from Atlanta to LAX and in the summer and due to thunderstorms couldn't take off so she was sweating for an hour in the plane on the tarmac, Her Delta flight from LAX to Sydney was delayed because of a birdstrike on the airplane when it landed and inspections had to be done so it was delayed. She was going to miss her Virgin Australia flight when she landed so Delta STUPIDLY re-booked it before she landed and and gave her atransfer time of 40 minutes and she missed that and Virgin Australia told her it wasn't their respsonsibility to rebook her and she went to Delta and they told her she'd have to handle it with Virgin Australia but once mom explained she already tried that the Delta staff took all the passengers from that desk back to the Virgin Australia desk and politely demanded them follow Australian aviation laws and rebook everyone. She landed in Brisbane 10 hours after she was supposed to.

On the way back, Delta agents at the international terminal began to pull people out of the security line to the express lane so they wouldn't miss their flights due to Sydney Airport firing way too many people during the complete border shutdown in Australia, landed in LAX then got on the flight to Atlanta and due to thunderstorms and running out of fuel got diverted to Huntsville, Alabama (however, the flight attendants had some humor about the situation on that flight and said "Congrats to our 7 passengers who have Huntsville as their final destination. We just saved you a flight.") and she had to wait another 3 hours at Huntsville Airport to fly 20 minutes into Atlanta Airport then wait 4 hours for the shuttle back to our town.

We (my parents and I) had a connecting flight in Dallas coming home from the Grand Canyon (gorgeous place, btw; I totally recommend if you haven't been), and we got to the gate about 7:30ish pm with a departure time of I think 8:30? So we waited... and waited... and about an hour into the wait, we were told the flight got delayed another hour (idr why, I think tech difficulties). Long story short, what should've been an evening flight that would get us home by ten turned into a redeye flight that didn't land in Indianapolis until like... idr, 12:30 or something. Sometime in the middle of the night. And then, when we got to the car, my dad coluldn't find the parking ticket ANYWHERE, so that delayed us another half an hour. On top of all that, it was a two-hour drive home, so we didn't get home until two or three.

Yes I truly appreciate traveling with my brother and his endless perks that let’s me zoom through tsa, get lounge access and priority boarding, and qualified upgrades, and sometimes a boost to the captains first class seat hours before arrival. Only when I travel with him tho.
