2023 was okay, but I hope 2024 will be better, especially since I'm potentially getting a new apartment and adopting my friend's doggo!

2023 was pretty decent. It went by really fast but I had some of the best vacations this year. The last three months were very hectic fr. And I took a break from forums and consumed less KPOP content because I was so busy with school, working, studying for the ACTs and taking them, applying for college and scholarships.

It was a very busy year and sort of stressful. But all that hard work truly paid off imo because I made it to 18, finished off my junior year and senior year first semester with good grades, got a score everyone was happy with on my ACT got my superscore up, and got into my dream college! I also made a lot friends and said goodbye to some too.

My highlights are definitely the events/traveling that we did:

• In January (for New Year's week), we went to Galveston, TX. It was chilly but very fun and relaxing.
• Also in January (literally the next weekend), I went to our local Comic Con with my brother and best guy friend and we ate at my favorite burger joint
• In February, we found out that our grandpa (mom's dad) passed away on Valentine's Day and that was terrible and we attended the funeral about 2 weeks later. It was a Christian funeral and I cried a lot but there was a special ceremony for someone who was a pastor. It also brought our entire family on my mom's side for the first time in years. Man, I miss him so much.
• In March, I went to Comic Con in Kansas City with my immediate family, 2 of our cousins (one dressed up as Loki, the other as The Mandalorian), aunt, uncle (Star Trek crew member), and grandma (Spider-Man). I dressed up as that cheerleader girl from Stranger Things Season 4 and my brother was someone from an anime (I don't watch a lot of anime tbh). It was very cold lmao.
• In July, my immediate family went to Folly Beach, SC, and stayed at a beach house Airbnb. It was HOT and HUMID but we still really enjoyed it. The water was very nice and clean and we learned how to surf! That weekend, we traveled further away from the beach and spent the time at the family reunion on our father's side. It was smaller this year but there were still about 150 of our cousins and their spouses lol (second, third, fourth)...pretty much anyone that's related to my paternal grandfather. That was an EXTREMELY eventful month. I only told you about the surface.
• In October, my dad almost died, I had my birthday party and turned 18 and I went to go see my school's fall play "The Murder on the Orient Express". Yeah.
• In November, we went to spend Thanksgiving break with our grandparents (dad's parents), my aunt (his sister) and her dog. Her dog accidentally got a hold of a little potato salad with onions in it and she was fine and I thought she was until my aunt told us she threw up after every meal and had to go to the ER after we left. She's okay now. We also spent 2 weekends in Dallas, TX because we like the city.
• In December, my brother and mom and I went to Springfield, MO to visit our grandma and one of my mom's sisters and her husband. She started crying. I had my last NOEL performances (a really big deal in choir), took finals and did my best to turn everything in and get my grades up, and we also spent time with our grandparents and aunt in Texas again for only 5 days this time (over Christmas). And then we went to Galveston, TX which I'm currently in and is a complete circle from last year's New Year's week vacation.

I hope that 2024 will bring a lot of abundance! I'm so excited that I'm going to graduate from high school too!
