I'm proud of my heritage and I'll never deny it! But I consider myself an American, first and foremost! I mean, if i had actually Lived in SK at some point in life and if I actually spoke it fluently, i'd probably think different. But sadly, I haven't and I don't! I know but sometimes regardless if one is friends for a long time or even brand new it's good to touch base to make sure the other person is on board with the jokes and "ribbing" and what not and that I'm not going overboard with something since everybody has a line and sometimes even friends will (hopefully) inadvertently cross it without meaning to
