“President Donald Trump on Monday signed executive orders proclaiming that the U.S. government will recognize only two sexes, male and female, and ending "radical and wasteful" diversity, equity and inclusion programs inside federal agencies.

In a phone call Monday morning before Trump’s swearing-in, senior White House officials detailed both orders, grouping them under the Trump administration’s wider “restoring sanity” agenda.

The gender order states that it will "defend women’s rights and protect freedom of conscience by using clear and accurate language and policies that recognize women are biologically female, and men are biologically male."

It requires that the federal government use the term “sex” instead of “gender,” and directs the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security to “require that government-issued identification documents, including passports, visas, and Global Entry cards, accurately reflect the holder’s sex."

"Across the country, ideologues who deny the biological reality of sex have increasingly used legal and other socially coercive means to permit men to self-identify as women and gain access to intimate single-sex spaces and activities designed for women, from women’s domestic abuse shelters to women’s workplace showers. This is wrong," the order reads. "Efforts to eradicate the biological reality of sex fundamentally attack women by depriving them of their dignity, safety, and well-being."

"The erasure of sex in language and policy has a corrosive impact not just on women but on the validity of the entire American system," it continues. "Basing Federal policy on truth is critical to scientific inquiry, public safety, morale, and trust in government itself."


In 2022, the Biden administration allowed U.S. citizens to be able to select the gender-neutral "X" as a marker on their passports. On Tuesday, a page on the State Department website that had previously included instructions on updating passport gender markers was no longer accessible, instead redirecting to a general U.S. passports page.

The gender order also prevents taxpayer funds from being used for gender-transition health care and mandates “privacy in intimate spaces” to ensure that single-sex spaces, such as prisons and rape shelters, are designated by sex and not gender identity.”

Completely agree that he doesn’t belong in the white house. This is such a blow in the face to many Americans. I fear that lives will be lost over this. Many people don’t feel safe in their own country, it is sad and terrifying to watch

This feels like if someone said that baseball players aren’t athletes because soccer players are athletes and you’re not a soccer player so therefore you can’t participate in it as a school sport. there's a difference between someone transitioning because of gender dysphoria and the people who transition (majority MtoF) to gain access to women spaces to do some not good things to women or even just for clout/rage bait....
I honestly don't care if you want to transition or feel the need to as you can't feel comfortable in your body but it pisses me of to see so many people popping up doing it for clout, to get into women spaces, gr00m children, and just be plain inappropriate Abt it (a few would be Lilly Tino, Jeffrey Marsh, that guy from the bachelor, etc)

This is not not only about the people who transition.
There are so many people who just don't feel comfortable choosing a gender and have to suffer from this law.
And the people who transition and did it to do bad things are still thankfully in the minority.
But millions of other people shouldn't suffer and forced to choose something they don't want.

it just gets confusing with genders
like we have
female, male, intersex, nonbinary, trigender, xenogender, aesthetigender, genderfluff, etc
it just seems easier to have a select few, no? it's only for documentations and such but in their day to day lives, they can still identify how they want, or am I just not getting it?

Just hopping into the conversation as the OP of this thread

It’s more than just documentation. This order makes anyone outside of the binary fear for their safety on a day to day basis. It subjects them to further harassment, more than they already experience in their day to day lives. And documentation is a part of the person. Just imagine if your ID had to say male on it despite you being female… how would you feel? And then if everyone assumed you were male in your day to day? Can I assume you would make you at least a little bit uncomfortable? This is how gender diverse people feel EVERY DAY, but amplified due to the hate crimes they experience. Their one security blanket has been stripped from them.
