This looks really bad though, there seems to be so many people against Dreamcatcher's name and calling HFE to change it.
In one of my earlier threads about this situation, I have already shown an article about why it's not appropriating the Native American culture.
But the fact is, even if they do change their name, their concept, etc, people will still find a way to hate on them.

By their logic every person who has a dreamcatcher tattoo they have to peel it off for them because it is disrespectful. I believe the biggest issues is when their logo uses items like feathers and beads WITH the dream catcher. The feathers and beads of an actual dream catcher are sacred. And it's actually supposed to be specific kinds of feathers and beads....not just any kind.

So album arts and logos like this are not so good:

For the red album art it looks like the company did indeed do research. I see a spider and spider web motifs within it. Looks like they researched and learned of Ojibwe calling dreamcatchers "spider web charms" and how these charms are also associated with the Spider Woman who looks after children and the people on land. Its similar to the eye charm I see in certain European cultures that's a ward of the evil eye.

These logos and albums should be fine though:

I'm very unsure of Indigenous American heritage in my family.
But I do understand what it's like to have a significant portion of your culture used by others, including Korean celebrities then be told one is being "too sensitive", "overreacting" or how "its nothing" when I (and others in my group) express displeasure at the usage.

And the saddest thing about this is, the reason why it seems not to be that many Indigenous American Twitter users speaking of this is most likely due to the fact of the American genocide that happened long ago. That event severely reduced the population. And there's also the fact that not all Indigenous Americans live in the U.S so not all of them speak English.

People should peel off the Dreamcatcher tattoo tho.....
There's no freakin way that good dreams can go through the "holes" of their tattoo because none of the holes exist.
The point of the dreamcatcher is to catch the nightmares so the dreams can go through.
How can dreams go through when there's no holes? It can't. People with dreamcatcher tattoos are just catchin all the nightmares.
Of course this is the non Ojibwe interpretation of dreamcatchers and I honestly can't remember the source of this.

Either way I tend to stay away from any sort of charms. Cause horror stories of misusing charms,etc specifically ones relating to Voodoo in Louisiana I'm good.

That's different. The Indigenous Americans making dreamcatchers most likely know of the meaning of the charm. In addition to knowing which specific beads and feathers to use because you can't just use any sort of feather and beads.

....I don't think Dreamcatcher does....
And yet they've had more than 1 album in the past clearly showing feathers and beads.

It'll be nice if more people were willing to ACTUALLY listen to others of the actual culture when they bring something like this up instead of quickly just brushing it off or trying to excuse it or something.
Seems like people hear so they can reply.
But don't try to listen or put themselves in the other person's shoes.

And no-in case anyone is reading this and thinking of it-no, I'm not being hypocritic here.
I've tried and failed to see how an Indigenous American selling dreamcatchers is contradictory. At least if they share/sell the charms they can tell you what the charms are for. And the recipients of the charms will know. Instead of someone just using a dreamcatcher to fit whatever concept they have in mind without really researching about it.

And I'm sure the company didn't really intend to come across as another user of culture for profit.....but still....

It's not actually going crazy.
Subjects like this HAVE been brought up before.
It's just fortunately with the internet, we're all more likely to hear each other's voices regarding numerous topics.
(And if you look at life that way, then unfortunately also.)

However, unfortunately there is one too many people out there who'd rather not listen to others.
They'd rather hear or just read the words just so they can reply but not really try to see things from another's perspective or understand another person.

And due to how slow humans as a collective can be it's going to take awhile for people across groups and such to come to even just slight understandings on topics that weren't really listened to/paid attention to before. That and it seems people only pay attention to something when its connected to something interests them.

Just think about it. Isn't the reason you even know of such a topic is because it was connected to something that already interested you? Before this, has it ever cross your mind the meaning of dreamcatcher and the significance it may have?

Kpop fans don’t understand how drastic changing the name of an artist could be. That’s their whole brand, what they built up for years just going down the drain. I don’t think that dream catcher should change their name, but I can understand why some fans are upset with certain logos. And maybe the company could try to modify the logos to satisfy fans.
