"The user who is awarded will be someone who follows the forum rules, is friendly and approachable, and is actively contributing to the forum (making quality threads etc.). Our hopes for this event is to not only encourage good behaviour but to also encourage activity.

The events team will be the one to make the final decision on the winner but you can trust that we will give everyone an equal chance and we will not be biased in our decisions. Not to mention, YOU all will also have the opportunity to suggest users you believe deserve the award."

I personally disagree with it being like Korean award shows.
Events Team always first looks over each nominee for that month, usually if someone has already been named UOTM we try to choose someone else to give others a chance as well so it doesn’t become a popularity contest. There’s been one case where someone was nominated by 3 or 4 different users and we all agreed with naming that person UOTM because of all the incredibly nice things everyone had to say about the person and we all agreed with the choice as the user brought a lot of kindness to the forum. It also depends on how many people nominate others, sometimes there will be 7 nominations, sometimes just 1. We always try to give everyone a chance as a UOTM.
