Title from Drink It by The Boyz, stan my babies :ankha:

"What to do with you?"

The vampire prince's voice rang out through the large room as an unwilling Donghun was shoved to his knees in front of him. He raised his eyes to look at the young lord, forcing as much disgust into his gaze as he could.

Junhee sneered, his upper lip curling back to reveal the barest hint of pearly white fang. "Stop looking at me like that, you little cretin."

Donghun stared at him stonily, a challenge in his gaze.

The prince, who had been lounging across his throne with a crystal goblet in hand, sat up straight. The light from the candles placed around the room reflected off the rubies glittering in the black crown perched in his long hair, framing him in a pretty halo of deep red. He set the goblet down and leaned forward, childishly propping his chin in his hand. "You're so pretty. Almost as pretty as me. Shame you had to try and steal from me...Did you know the necklace you were caught with has been in my family since the 1300s?"

Of course, Donghun didn't know that. He kept his face blank. To be honest, he wasn't even thinking of Prince Junhee or his royal family when he pocketed the necklace. He was thinking of his little brother back home and how selling it would be enough to feed him for months.

Now, he wasn't sure if he'd ever see his brother again. The thought was enough to make him lower his eyes, hoping for some mercy from the famously cold prince.

He kept his head down as Junhee deliberated for a few moments.

"Execution."

Donghun's head snapped up, his fists clenching and unclenching briefly. "You can't-"

"I can't?" Amused, Junhee raised a single eyebrow.

"You can't kill me, I have to-" Donghun stopped himself. "You just can't."

"And why not?"

Donghun scrambled for something, anything, that could get him out of his doomed situation. Prince Junhee's smirk grew wider as Donghun couldn't find anything to say to spare himself.

"Your parents will be disappointed." He tried, knowing it was fruitless the second Junhee started cackling.

"My parents don't care what I do, as long as the country isn't in ruins. I am their only successor, after all."

An idea crawled into the back of Donghun's mind, its roots taking place in his brain. "What if..." he could barely get the words out, but he had to remind himself that this was all for his brother. "I'll let you drink from me."

Junhee stopped laughing immediately, instead opting to stare wordlessly at Donghun. Hoping to establish a bond between humans and vampires, Junhee's parents had implemented a law that no vampire should drink directly from a human. All they got was bagged blood. Blood they put in crystal goblets to show their superiority. "What makes you think I'd want to drink from you?"

Donghun swallowed dryly. "You called me pretty."

Junhee's smile reappeared, his delicate fangs glinting in the light. They were pretty and small and white, unlike the ones the few vampires back in his village sported. Donghun found himself thinking he wouldn't really mind if they pierced his skin. "That's true."

Junhee was silent for a few minutes. "Okay. I haven't drunk from a real human in so long. But if my parents find out, you'll have to be killed."

Donghun nodded, relief flooding through his body.

Junhee motioned for him to stand up. "Go back to your quarters. I'll visit you later." He picked up his goblet and waved his hand.

Donghun shakily stood up, bowing slightly before rushing out of the room. He could feel the disapproving looks from Junhee's personal guard, but he knew they wouldn't tell.

It was nearly midnight when Donghun heard a soft knock at his door. He didn't have time to move before the door swung open, Junhee stepping in almost shyly. He was dressed like a commoner, his long hair tied into a knot at the back of his neck save for a few strands that had escaped and now framed his pale face.

"You can sit there..." He trailed off awkwardly, motioning towards his bed. The prince nodded and sat down, Donghun following hesitantly. "So, are you just going to...?" He pointed at his neck and Junhee chuckled.

"I don't think that's a good idea." The prince gently grabbed Donghun's wrist, sliding his sleeve up his arm. He watched Junhee intently as the vampire ran his thumb over the veins in his forearm. "The neck is preferable, to be honest," Junhee mumbled, more to himself than to Donghun. "But this will do."

Donghun closed his eyes as Junhee latched onto his arm. The first press of fangs into his skin made him gasp. "That hurts."

It was one of the worst pains Donghun had ever felt. Between Junhee's tight grip on his arm, the razor-sharp fangs ripping open his skin, and the odd feeling of Junhee sucking the blood out, he felt as if he'd throw up.

Thankfully, Junhee stopped a lot sooner than Donghun had expected him to. He pulled back, his lips smeared in blood. It both thrilled and disgusted Donghun.

"Did it um...did it taste good?" Donghun asked weakly.

Junhee gave him a strange look. "Blood is blood."

And with that, he was gone.

xx

Junhee had visited him three times since then. Each time, he'd bite in the same place, take the minimum amount of blood possible, and leave. Donghun was starting to get a little offended. He'd offered himself up and Junhee had barely shown any interest.

At least, not until the other prince. The one with the pretty red eyes and quiet demeanor, who had arrived with the rest of his family the night before to discuss allying against the West kingdom. The one whose head whipped around the second Donghun had entered the large dining hall, where the two families were eating. Donghun had a large serving platter balanced in his arms. As he set it on the table, his sleeve pulled back, revealing his bandaged wrist. The unnamed prince seemed to be the only one who noticed.

Donghun pulled his sleeve down and quickly exited the serving room. He didn't even realize he was being followed until the prince grabbed his wrist and spun him around. "Hi," he said breathlessly, his strange eyes glittering with excitement.

Donghun just gaped at him. He'd never been addressed by a royal in such an informal way. Up close, he appeared to be much younger than Donghun had originally assumed. And when he smiled awkwardly, he noticed just how tiny his fangs were. Tinier than Junhee's. They looked as if they'd break if he tried to bite into anything.

Donghun found it rather cute.

"Um, are you a...you know...an assistant?"

"A what?"

"He's not." Prince Junhee slid smoothly in front of Donghun, a blank expression on his face. "You know we don't have those here, Yuchan."

"Really?" Yuchan said, seemingly unconvinced. "His wrist is bandaged."

Donghun didn't know what was going on, but he was still a servant and was bound to protect his prince in any way. "I accidentally cut myself in the kitchens yesterday." He blurted.

Yuchan tilted his head to the side, running his tongue lightly over one of his fangs. "What a shame. It's been a long journey, you know." He gazed almost pleadingly at Donghun, the latter suddenly feeling the urge to tear off his bandage and let the young prince feed.

Junhee snapped his long fingers twice. "Stop that."

Yuchan blinked innocently. "I'm not doing anything."

Junhee scoffed. "I'm sure you aren't. Now if you could please head back into the dining hall, I believe you can find a wide selection of blood types to satisfy your needs."

The younger prince stuck his lower lip out slightly but obeyed.

As soon as the large doors of the dining hall closed behind Yuchan, Junhee spun around. "The Kang clan are well-known for their incredible hypnotism abilities."

Donghun gaped.

"Their kingdom in the East is much different than ours here in the North. They feed on live humans. They even have servants, or assistants, on-call for the sole purpose of being food."

"Isn't that what I am to you?"

Junhee looked troubled. "No. Not at all. Now get back to work." he strode off, leaving Donghun confused.

When Junhee entered his room that night, Donghun nearly jumped out of his skin. Junhee was always eerily quiet, and to be honest, Donghun wasn't expecting him after what had happened earlier in the day. Something seemed different about him, but Donghun couldn't put his finger on it.

Instead of sitting on his bed like normal, Junhee grabbed Donghun's hand and hauled him up, pushing him to stand against the wall. "Don't move." he instructed, gripping the servant's chin and pushing his head up to expose his throat.

Donghun felt dread pool in his stomach, but stayed silent. He could feel the tips of Junhee's fangs against his skin, the prince's breath coming in short huffs.

Donghun waited for the bite with eyes shut tight, knowing it would hurt much worse in such a sensitive spot.

But it never came. Instead, Junhee pulled back and adjusted the collar of Donghun's shirt. "I can't do it. It doesn't feel right." he mumbled. The vampire looked upset and conflicted, very unlike his usual self.

Donghun frowned, and his mouth started moving before his brain could catch up and remind him he was in the presence of royalty. "What's so wrong with me? Do I taste gross or something?"

Junhee looked incredibly uncomfortable. "It's not that."

"Then what?"

"I don't want to hurt you, okay?" Junhee snapped.

Donghun rolled his eyes. "How am I different from everyone else you've taken blood from? Tell me. You could have just killed me instead of putting me through...this. Don't know what I expected, really. You're so spoiled you can't ever give anyone a straight answer."

"Be quiet." Junhee said softly. "You're not permitted to speak to me that way."

Donghun was silent as Junhee turned and left.

xxxx

Junhee didn't come back for weeks. At first, Donghun had counted his blessings. The moment between them had been so awkward, and Donghun was left to ponder the meaning. The prince had fixed him with a gaze unlike any other he had received before. He hated the feeling of being confused and not knowing Junhee's intentions towards him, so having him out of sight was beneficial.

But he soon found out why the prince was missing, once he spotted Junhee walking down one of the castle's long halls alongside his father and their military leader. His hair, which had previously been down his back, was now chopped off, slightly curling at the back of his neck. He was covered in dirt and blood, a thin white shirt sticking to him and revealing more than Donghun needed to see. It was obvious he had been sparring again with other soldiers, like he had every day for as long as Donghun had worked at the castle.

He was too far to hear their conversation, but he caught snatches of it. Something about finally going through with their plan to attack the West. So Junhee was going to war. A hollow feeling appeared in his stomach. He didn't know if he'd miss Junhee exactly, but it would certainly be odd not having him around.

It was late, and Donghun was trying to mend a tear in one of his jackets. He wasn't very experienced with sewing but he had no other option. Too bad he kept poking himself with the needle.

His bedroom door opened and he was startled enough to really stab himself, a tiny bead of red welling up on his fingertip.

Junhee stood in the doorway. Donghun caught his eyes flick for a millisecond toward his finger.

"You've probably heard all about me leaving for the war. I know all the servants are filthy little gossipers." Junhee said breezily. He stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. They stood in silence for a moment before Junhee reached into his pocket and pulled out a thick gold necklace. The same one Donghun had tried to steal months ago.

To his surprise, Junhee dropped it onto his tiny table. "Take it. As a parting gift. That's what humans do, right? Give important people in their lives something to remember them by in case they die?"

Donghun stared at him, incredulous.

Junhee chuckled. "Maybe not important. You are just a servant after all. But, even if I didn't come too often, your blood was always enjoyable for me. And you seemed to want it so badly months ago. God knows why, it doesn't match anything you own."

"I was going to sell it." Donghun snapped. "I don't want any of your dirty jewelry."

"Tsk. Your mouth will always get you in trouble, dearest." Junhee murmured, stepping closer until they were mere inches apart.

"I'll miss it." The prince admitted. "You are very entertaining. Some humans don't know this, but when a vampire drinks from them, a tiny bond is developed. It strengthens each time the vampire takes blood. You probably don't feel a thing, but ours took me quite by surprise. To the point where I couldn't imagine hurting you. In fact, the only thing I imagined...was you." He took another step forward. Their noses were practically touching.

The two men were quiet for a moment, content to stare at each other with feigned disinterest.

Minutes passed, unspoken words being shouted between them. Finally, Donghun reached up to rub at the side of his neck nervously, tapping his fingertip against his own skin. "Are you hungry?"

OMG I just came across this - um... great story and everything, but can I suggest using Paste As Plain Text instead of just Paste? The line spacing looks kinda funky. lol
