Our biggest doggo Copper has always been a good boy, he’s very hyper and for some people it may seem like too much but he can’t help it that he continuously has major puppy energy even when he’s gettin older. Gotta stay youthful
Anyways about 2 weeks ago while our dogs were out in the backyard and my mom and I were getting ready for the day, I heard our backyard gate trying to be opened. The gate gets stuck on some stones and so wherever you are in the house you can hear it be opened. I also heard what sounded like a man’s voice as the gate was being opened. Then I heard Copper barking and growling (the gate is relatively close to my room so I could hear the majority pretty clearly) he was such a good boy and managed to scare whoever it was out of the backyard (we have no idea who it was which is kind of worrying but they haven’t tried it again).
Whenever my mom goes on a trip and I’m left alone I always make sure he’s one of the dogs that stays home instead of going on the trip because I feel more secure with him. But to be honest I never actually thought he’d try to attack/scare an intruder away because he’s extremely friendly. So now I really have a guard dog with me when I’m alone in the house.
Another thing he did was help me maneuver to get up somewhere. For some context, I did a really intense workout a few days ago after not working out for months and I think I may have really hurt my left leg so it’s been really difficult for me to walk and do things. It’s getting better but it’s still a struggle. But, my mom and I were harvesting from our garden and I needed to climb up a brick wall to get to something but my left leg kept giving out and starting to spasm. I asked Copper to climb up the wall so I could use him as a support. Using that year of training to be a service doggie really comes in handy sometimes
(he never completed his training and he just didn’t have the right temperament to be a service dog, as well as a really high prey drive). Anyways, he new exactly what I needed and stayed put so I could do it without my leg giving out on me and both my mom and I were so proud of him.
Yes that is the end of the thread, yes I just wanted to share how good of a dog we have.
