in my opinion, there is some truth to it.. it's human nature to always chase after something new or what we can't have and we all take things for granted too.. but I also think this has a lot to do with immaturity.. because if you know who you are and what matters in life, you will appreciate someone treating you well and not chase after those who don't care for you imo

I agree that it's bit true, not just with things, but people too. You take some as granted since you are used to them, and u try to reach out towards those that don't really care about u that much instead, reminds me bit of one friendship i had as kid, kinda tried and tried being friend to this person, but in other hand they took me as granted. It took some time to realize it.

True, it's similar with respect sometimes. Our physics professor is really great, likes to joke around and is nice to us, but everyone always talks on his classes. And on the other hand, for example, our literature professor is really strict and shortens us time for writing exams because of some ridiculous reasons, and everybody is quiet and listens to her during the class
