First I got a finger prick so thenurse could wipe blood on the slide. I thought it would hurt but after it happened I realized what should've truly scared me: that damn bandaid. Probably didn't do it purposely but when the nurse put the bandaid on my poor index finger it was cutting off circulation or at least damn near close. I fixed it afterwards tho
Then there was one doctor who did an eye test on anither family member attending with us but they took one look at me which I reciprocated that told her I had already gotten all the eye tests I need for a lifetime (This is because I wear thick ass glasses)
But after the usual I had a serious conversation that I didn't think I'd ever have with anyone let alone a doctor lady that I didn't even know up until said day. She asked me about feelings of anxiety and I unloaded everything I thought was necessary bc I didn't know when I'd see her again. I expected the worst but surprisingly she not only comforted me and then afterward said she'd put in a referral for a counselor I believe. The bar is low yeah but you don't know how it feels for someone like me to feel like I've finally been taken seriously even if this is only one step its a step in the right direction. She was also really unintimidating and easy to talk to even before the portion of the appointment where my other accompanying family was asked to step out. That felt good, I felt good leaving the office that day.
