Were you ever afraid to ask for help with something? (1 Viewer)

I was when I was younger, and I'm still like this today. I've always been afraid to ask for help because I don't want to look dumb in front of people if I don't understand something. Especially when it came to homework

And it's also hard for me to talk to people in general since I'm shy and closed off IRL. Like even at stores an employee would ask me if I needed help finding something and I would just lie and say that I'm just looking around, when really I'm struggling to find something because I don't want people to bother me

Does anyone else get like this?

Maybe when I was younger but I grew out of it for the most part-I work in a field where if you mess up it could kill. So if I am too scared to ask for help when I don't understand something it could end badly. I will also say having been in leadership positions-asking for help with things usually makes those who work with you a bit more respecting of your position and title strangely enough.

Most of my life until I got to tired to not ask for help. There's still plenty of things I can't or won't ask for help with.

Growing up yes. However when really frightening sticky scenarios occur that really shook me right up. Now if I need help, it's better to ask.

I have when I was in school, but that was more for the subjects that I didn’t like and would never see myself taking any related uni course with in the future

I’m the same way tbh. Even if I know someone well I just always feel nervous to ask. If I can’t find something in a store I’ll google where it would normally be and go from there.
