China is famous for being communist and Mao is celebrated as a "god" and yet if one looks deeper China is one of the most capitalist countries in the world

I wouldn't say that, the defining feature of capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production. More than 60% of business in China have some level of government ownership.

But there's a different metric that we should be using, I think. Capitalism was defined in the industrial age, but we live in the financial age. Money has in itself become the means. And it's in finance that you can see how China differs from purely capitalist countries. It has tremendous power in controlling its economy simply through the choices it can make in the provision of capital.

It's an interesting system, a hybrid, that utilizes free markets for the micro and central planning for the macro.

It's not accusatory, I'm just interested in knowing what older bands you still know. I'm surprised because I assumed that you could know such bands because your parents might listen to them. The Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison. Paul and Ringo are still alive.



It seems we should start a thread with the music we listened to when we was young @StirFriedPanda. No specific genre. Maybe we should show those younger guys here some legendary Western bands and artists.

I listened to the old bands for decades and sometimes I just forget that you are way younger than me. On the other hand I'm sure you know more K-Pop idols than me.
