When I first got into K-pop, I pronounced Namjoon to rhyme with "Sam tune", but it's actually supposed to rhyme with "some tune"? I'm still not sure, but now I know it's not "Sam tune". lol

I also used to pronounce Tzuyu "T-sue-you" - it's "Zoo-ee", as I heard somebody else from Twice address her in a video. lol

Oh! The "eo" in names like Ho-Seok and Yeon-Jun! I used to think it was pronounced the Western way, so Hoe-see-ock" and "Ye-on-June". OFC by the time Yeonjun and TXT debuted, I had gotten used to the Korean pronunciation "uh". lol

Remember folks, “Stray Kids” isn’t 2 syllables like you or I might expect, you need a full 6 syllables for it to be said as god intended:

chinese-speaking idols. imo even using the korean versions of their names (eg: seong so for cheng xiao) isn't correct, comes off as koreaboo-ish imo. sure it may be easier after watching their korean content and hearing other call them that, but you're not korean. try to say it the way they themselves say it. (this ofc doesn't apply if you ARE korean, in the case of which, i'm sorry)

and as for cheng xiao herself.. i was mindblown when i learnt that the "cheng" in her name is prononced closer to "chung" than anything else. it's chung see-ah-oh. not seong so.

another example but with korean idols - before i learnt how to read hangeul, i'd mix up the sounds of "ㅓ" (= eo) and "ㅜ" (= oo) when they'd be romanized with "u". so i was going around for a very long time calling certain idols hyoona, soonmi, choongha (but with a short "oo" sound. the difference isn't there in korean, but it is in hindi/bangla, and while romanizing these two, "oo" is often used for the long sound, while "u" is for the short sound. thus i got confused)
