I think this is a Russian tradition or from that area at least. My family always sits before leaving for a trip. I read that it comes from old traditions where they believed in house spirits, and they sat before trips to make the house spirits think they weren’t leaving. I suppose they thought the house spirits would be mad? Not certain if it’s true, but that’s what I read.

Every day in a year has a name assigned to it. When it's that particular day u just wish well to the ppl named like that.
For ex. Today would be the name day of Bernat and Felicia

Originally it comes from christianity, cause ppl got new names when they were baptized. They were usually named after saints and on the saints name they celebrated with a feast or smth. But ofc it got bigger and there is a name for every day, and almost every name has a name day. We don't really celebrate with food anymore, maybe we drink some eine eith the person who's name day is.

Interesting. What happens to people who’s name doesn’t have a day? :susPepe:

I actually shouldnt have one, but my family still celebrate it.
It's not as important , and many new kids dont have namedays since they have newer unique names. Maybe if they redo the calendar they will.

The top of the head is considered to be the most important part of the human body. To touch someone on the top of their head is considered rude and insensitive Thai etiquette
