But seriously, my theory makes sense whether we go from a religious perspective or that of the evolutionary perspective. Something needed to be here to create an egg. Now that may or may not have been the chicken we know today. How the chicken got here remains unanswered but it doesn’t really make sense to have a egg poof out of nowhere without parents

Yes that is very true. I’m just throwing out all possible scenarios my brain can fathom. Personally I’m not religious but grew up in the Church, but it is another way of looking at this question. My brain is doing a lot of thinking considering it isn’t even light outside yet LOL

The chicken - you need a chicken to lay the egg. You may ask, how’d the chicken get here? Our modern day chicken may not have always been a chicken - I assume evolution. Something mates with another species, thus the chicken comes into existence, and how did it do that? Through an egg.

Everytime this conversation is had I come in with the "but actually, evolutiuon explains this" argument so I'm both surprised and happy to see others make that too. Like you said, the egg isnt just going to come into existence all on it's own. Since it's a cyclic process of minor changes over generations, it's not a clear cut answer because modern day chickens didnt just show up one day, they likely evloved form some premitive animal and they will continue to evolve so maybe like a millennia in the future you can have an argument about "what came first the (insert animal that evolved form chickens) or the egg"

There’s so many different kinds of chickens nowadays too, not just one type. Which could be thanks to an evolutionary process. Within years of mating between different species new animals are created. This could explain how we got our modern day chicken

Absolutely. One of the few downsides of evolution being a really slow process that takes place over a long period of time is that we kinda forget that it's still going on with every new generation of every species. The various types of chickens too show that evolution is not a single line but a somewhat directional process towards the development of new species that has better and better chances of survivng their respective environments. (Do keep in mind that I'm not a student of the sciences and most of what i'm saying is from what i learned in school and my own research so if the jargon used is incorrect, my apologies)

It all makes sense to me, I myself am not a student of the sciences and wasn’t my strong suit. But the basic principles of evolutionary thinking, I can understand. Scientists are discovering new sub species almost daily so the evolution into the modern chicken may not be totally off

The egg, you need one to get a chicken. Likely the animals that laid the egg were chicken like and they slowly evolved into the modern day chicken over time. But you can’t have a modern day chicken without the egg.
