Oh no doubt, but many monarchies and whatnot were harsh, it’s less of a thing to be so outrageously bad with democratically elected rules I feel

I do not really think much of it.
Even when they say every vote matters
still you get some dickhead regardless

that is true. But if you live in a truly democratic country you generally have to appeal enough to people to get reelected. In a monarchy you don’t, nothing short of a rebellion or revolution won’t be able to change the fact that you’re in power. There are plenty of places with questionable democracy though ofc
