what do you think makes a "real fan"? (2 Viewers)

I was just on a BF group for Taylor Swift fans, and one fan was worried about not knowing all the lyrics to all the songs being performed at her concert and was afraid people wouyld label her as fake, so I got to thinking: what is YOUR definition of a "real fan"? let's discuss!

A real; fan to me is just somebody who dedicates their time to support a certain artist or franchise. They don't have to have all tbhe merch or know every last word of every single song. Just listening to their music is enough to be a real fan. But on the other hand, when "fans" start hating on certain artists and damn near canceling them with all the flack (I'm looking y'all, Twitter Sossies who gave Michael flack for "SA'ing a fan at a concert" [this turned out not only to be untrue but nonexistent - it was all a case of desperacy for clout]), those aren't real fans. Real fans respect the artists, and if they're dating, they respect whomever they're dating, too. And ofc they don't listen to and spread further nasty rumors and give the artists flack for it.

I don't think a "real fan" can actually be determined. There's different levels. Some are nuts and questionably devoted in an unhealthy manner. Others casual. The only time your NOT a fan is when your selfish, self centered and toxic when it comes to the group or idol. I think the one true requirement for being a fan is wanting the best for the idol or group. It should never be about what the Idol can do for you but being grateful for what they do and the sacrifices they make.

I think it’s generally up to the individual, as long as you enjoy their stuff to some capacity. Those that hate on the group idk, maybe they are fans and are just not the most pleasant people overall

the only fake fans that would exist in that situation you mentioned are the ones that hate on other people for not knowing the lyrics and think they have a superiority complex. you're not in it for the music or the artist, you're in it because you feel better than the rest
