Well actually the live I saw only Julie. She looked like she was holding back tears. I'm no kissy still...I don't want to cause scandal.
I feel bad for her tbh. I liked that she apologized but I think the WHOLE group should. We should hear every member say it. You can't speak for someone else in a situation like this.

It is not my apology to accept but I think it’s bullshit. If they were remorseful, they would have apologized as a whole group right away directly to the people they impacted. The timing is ironic considering they are having a comeback and their KCON LA appearance was cancelled. It seems like damage control more than a genuine apology.

But there is something kind of rich about a more seemingly heartfelt apology finally given after real consequences (KCON LA canceled them) and while they're revving up to promote their next release. Obviously, I don't think they should suffer forever, but there's a way to express remorse that comes across without the undercurrent of "now please buy my album."

My second thought: Is there somewhere documenting the proper way to apologize for something like this? What speed, content, sincerity, amount of understanding, etc, needs to be in the apology for it to be accepted? Because in every situation like this that I've seen there always seems to be something wrong with the apology to a majority of people that the action affected. Or is it more of a personal case by case basis thing?

I'm not trying to be hateful, just trying to understand what it would properly take.

same. it just irks me whenever people complain about an apology. like, they finally apologized - just accept it, forgive them, and GET OVER IT! if this was a bullying accusation or whatnot or if this wasn't the first time they did it, I'd understand, but iirc wasn't this a first time thing? People need to lay off and give them some grace.

As I stated before, this apology seemed more genuine than the last. However, the hurt that I felt will always be there whenever I see them. I can never look at them the same again. If some want to forgive them, they have the right to. For me, I will not continue to support

to me sometimes an apology isnt great it should adress the people involved and the problem but then again thats just my opinion

Considering that two of the members are grown adults from America, they should have already known better before acting like idiots in their livestream

First, no it's not your apologize to accept
Second, it's not the first time Julie used a racist word. She apologized and and apparently didn't learn from it, because then this birthday live happened. So, no an apologize is not an apologize if you don’t mean what you say and don’t actually reflect on your mistake

And yeah, people are rightfully angry about the timing and excuse why she didn’t properly apologize earlier

I already said this in the other thread (I'm white), but like too little too late. They should've known better even before their overtly racist livestream cause they used elements of black culture and music for at best their artistry and at worst their profit (obviously it's not only them, but as stated above it makes it worse that two members are American). Every fan, especially every black and Latino fan, who has left the fandom is very valid to do so.

Irrelevant side note:
I'm not someone who tries to be morally righteous, but this is a lesson to me to just, stay clear of groups who base their image and a large portion of their music on black culture. If there's a good hiphop album by a kpop group, then there'll always be five great albums by black people trying to make it in the West.

Apologies are only for people who want to forgive them so I don't particularly care about it as I wasn't into them before which isn't going to change now and the people who aren't going to forgive them anyway will find justification by picking it apart like you can just say you aren't interested in supporting them and for those really hurt by their actions then only them proving to have learnt their lesson would get you to potentially come back around.

I really liked their music but I get the ick when I wanna listen to their music, I deleted it from my phone.
It feels more like they thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal at first but the backlash was too much that they now are scrambling to save what's left.
The fact they even said beforehand "please don't leave/hate us", says they KNEW what they did was wrong.
I'd kinda understand if Natty and Haneul had come out and said "We didn't know how harmful it was" since they not American but the other 2 were so they knew it was problematic
