I feel like I've learned and grown a lot over the years, but the unfortunate part is the way people will hold onto something you said or did 10 years ago, even if you've apologized for it and never done it again, and think that the only appropriate punishment is for you to lose your friends, family, and employment.

I try to be pretty forgiving for poorly phrased things from idols for that reason. People are so disproportionate... as if homelessness and isolation is not only a desired outcome, but the only acceptable outcome, for, you know, someone having a dumb opinion when they were a teen. (An age where all of us knew everything about everything.)

ytou make a very good first point. yk the saying "beating a dead horse"? I think that's what netizens are doing by bringing up that fiasco from 2004. Yes, that Superbowl fiasco that people can't seem to let go of. Sure, Justin did do a horrible thing by grabbing Janet's boob and then brushing it off as a wardrobe malfunction, and sure, I was pissed at him AT THE TIME, but guess what? It's way over now. It's f*cking history! And before you or anyone else goes off about how he never apologized, yes he did. He was at the Grammys the following week, a privilege that would've been taken away if he hadn't apologized.
