In the US it’s Spanish. There’s a lot of Spanish speakers, which means that you’ve gone through the effort of learning a foreign language but still can’t tell your family/friends that the dude over there looks like a toenail because chances that they or someone nearby can understand you are not low enough

That is so sad....but not really surprising. It's pretty bad where I am too.

I have unfortunately seen people shouting slurs at others just for speaking foreign languages, most commonly Arabic. Most people would assume Canada is better than that, but unfortunately thats not always true.

It definitely is disappointing to see the vast difference between what people expect Canadians to act like to other people, and what actually happens around here. Though I guess I can't generalize every Canadian. I mean, where I am there are still a lot of nice people. I can still walk down the street and say hello to a complete stranger and they'll greet me back. But it's the bad eggs that always get the attention though, and they seem to be multiplying fast.

I'm from Canada. Lol. I was just being loquacious because I don't know when to shut up lol.
