What fun childhood memories do you have? (1 Viewer)

I remember that I would always go out to the large tree near my house on summer nights to catch fireflies with my friends.
I haven't seen many fireflies around in a long while though ​

Where I live/grown up our houses are all attached and have no gardens. There were a fair few of us who lived in our street that were kids, and we all played out pretty much from the moment we came home from school til evening programmes started. We’d lower down the washing lines that went from one side of the street to the other, and play volleyball or our bikes til it got dark. When it did get dark, we’d either go into each other’s houses, or sit in a row on the pavement with our gameboys and play Pokemon with the light magnifiers attached. None of us had much in the way of money (otherwise we wouldn’t have been living in this area) but our parents combined made the most of what they had, and we’ll always be appreciative of that.

I'm a '90s kid, so among my favorites was playing jump rope games with my friends. There was one I really loved that went "Ice cream soda, cherry on top / Who's your boyfriend, I forgot" and then you chant the letters of the alphabet until the jumper stops jumping. Whenever I was the jumper in the game, I usually only made it to around K, L, or M. lol

Now that you've mentioned it, seeing fireflies in the summer. I haven't seen them in years either. My dad would also grill a lot of food and we'd have grilled food for dinner multiple times.

Taking a walk down the road my grandfather lives on. A great way to kill an hour.
