What got u into anime? (1 Viewer)

I think it was just something that I thought looked interesting and wanted to check out. So, I went on youtube typed in anime and got High School of the Dead and Baka no Test lol. Those were the first two that I watched.

Ah that's quite interesting, to start from newer anime :D

My friend told me to check out an anime called Special A. I remember loving it and I binge watched a lot of shoujos after that. Eventually I started branching out to other genres and I was addicted.

I'm sad it was never introduced when I was a lot younger so I don't know much about Pokemon or Digimon or other popular anime. Hopefully, I'll be able to sit down and watch them one day.

Ah maybe they weren't popular around u when u were young? There was huge pokemon craze when i was at elementary school, everyone collected trading cards, they had to even ban them in schools, and i used to watch it every saturday, it was the reason for getting up early at saturdays xd

They are both pretty interesting if u plan to get around them eventually. Pokemon is kinda long though, if ur planning to watch whole seasons.

For some reason I went through a huge Pokémon phase when I was 15. I watched it as a kid too, but I watched this first 5 seasons all over again when I was a teenager. After that I just wanted to watch other types of anime and I just kept watching it for a few years. I rarely watch anime now though because I don't really find it as interesting as I did before. :/

Aww, maybe u eventually find the spark again. I had time period little over year maybe closer to two where i didn't watch any anime. I just got tired of all the tropes. But nowadays i'm all on board again.

it started out with pokemon lol
i remember watching video tapes of the original 150 pokemon indigo league since i was a little kid, the daycare i went to showed pokemon, bakugan , and blayblades. pokemon was my favorite.


of course i fell in love witht the game pokemon soon after

then one day in 5th grade almost going into middle school, i stumbled on the manga/comic section of my local libary, and i read naruto and one piece. eventually someone older told me that these books had shows.
i am still a loyal one piece fan today ( i gave up on naruto after a while, still read the manga if im bored thou)

and from there it stumbled into main stream anime as i got into highschool. i think fruit basket was my first... no it was black butler!

Oh it's really similar as with me. I used to rewatch eps of Pokemon on VHSes I found from my towns library, then Bakugan and beyblade, yugioh and other shonen game stuffs started to air eventually. THough i was never as into those, i was maybe bit too old already when they aired and wasn't anymore the target audience but remember watching some

. And i did play the gameboy games too, then middle school there started being more manga and comics available. One Piece was one first ones I read, but I think Detective Conan, Dragon Ball and Ranma 1/2 were even before that one. And I also got into anime properly in high school :D And actually my first cosplay was Ciel's dress look xd

Since small I loved Pokemon (Pokemon is still my fav franchise) and others animes, like Sailor Moon too, Digimon they used to pass a lot on tv... I don't watch many animes as I used to but there was so many good animes
I guess I only have patience to read mangas now

When I was younger, I always watched Pokemon. My parents basically got me into Pokemon because they used to watch it so they'd put it on for me and bought me games and I really loved it. In recent years, I started watching more anime because I'd hear people talking about it or I'd see a lot of stuff like fanart on the internet which led me into watching more ^^

Recommendation? Ah it's bit hard to predict what one would like, but check out Mob Psycho 100. Although it has bit peculiar art style that is not most common for anime it works well with the show, the animation is superb, story is both thoughtful and fun as the characters are ^^

I'm bit of middle of watching it as well, I haven't watched two newest seasons yet ^^; And i definitely have some movies too that I haven't watched xd

Naruto
my friend showed me an episode and I found it really funny so I gave it a try
but for some reason I started to watch it from the 28th episode xd I didnt see the first 27 eps for years

My cousin truly got me into it. She also got me into Kpop. I think it was inevitable I was gonna be an anime fan anyway. I realised that when I was growing up all my fav shows were anime just put on British TV. Naruto, One Piece, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade, Shaman King and Tokyo Mew Mew were all on TV when I was young.

Basically Naruto and Shaman King. Used to watch only Naruto (as it was still on-going), but then I said to try other ones as well. That's how it all started.

My twin got me into it. When he bought home ninja scroll the movie and watched that at home.
I watched sailor moon before that and dbz. But Ninja scroll is what hooked me the most.

And we still watch anime 20 years later. :)

Anime is an amazing medium and is just great storylines, animation and just the 'feels'.

I grew up watching anime. It wasn't until middle school when I became in love with anime. Inuyasha was what make me really love anime. I didn't really know the term anime until I discovered Inuyasha even though I am part Japanese. My favorite anime growing up was like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor, Digimon, Yugioh & Hamtaro.

I grew up watching anime because it's what they used to stream on TV, i remember watching sakura, detective Conan, do re mi, pokemon, yugi oh, and many more, then when i got older i started looking for anime and manga

So I essentially forced myself to get into anime in the beginning since I wanted to be a part of the cool kids or at least be part of some kind of group/community so I forced myself to get through Infinite Stratos since a friend said they were watching it at the time and I remember it being okay... Although I have tried rewatching it recently and I really can't get past episode 4 man there's just no story it's all just a bunch of girls fighting over this one dude with about as much personality as a wet towel and I just...

So anyway I was really sucking with getting into this anime thing since the only thing I really liked about it was the art style (to this day I still won't watch an anime no matter how great the story if the characters don't look pretty enough) so the only anime up to this point that I actually enjoyed was Shaman King which I watched before I even knew the difference between anime and cartoons. Finally I found Elfen Lied and I discovered i'm quite the fan of dark and edgy stories (but also fantasy in general) and I found that the anime style made for a good blood fest since 1. You don't have to worry about it being realistic, the style isn't realistic in the first place so unlike live action gore, you won't be distracted by the slightly unrealistic colour of blood or whatever, and 2. Anime is generally a lot more 'pretty' looking than regular cartoons, I think cartoons generally look more goofy to appeal to young audiences but as anime and manga prove time and time again, they're not often kid friendly. I greatly enjoy my cute anime boiis and girls being badass and covering themselves in red uwu <3

Of course this doesn't capture everything that I enjoy in anime but it probably captures the main bulk of it, Kaneki can eat me any day of the week

I think anime in general is produced better like more working hours is spent in eps. Or at least it looks like that for me. In general western cartoons have characters that are overly simply drawn. Like you get humans with angular heads, when with anime there is usually quite lot effort used in characters and backgrounds. I think western cartoon characters are made as simple as possible so they are fast to draw and replicate, and people can more easily tell them apart.

I'm not sure if i'm being clear but basically cartoon characters look often like this; simple lines, not lot of shading etc just quite flat coloring.

And then you have anime looking like this; the lines are lot less simpler, there is shading and colors aren't all flat..
