I think it’s different for everyone, for me I have two ult biases, Yunho (Ateez) and Suga. I never thought I’d have two ult biases because I love Suga so much but I realized pretty quickly that neither of them I liked more than the other so I didn’t feel right considering only Suga as my ult. I don’t think I’ll ever have more than these two as my ults though. And then for ult groups it’s BTS, Ateez and Seventeen (but currently I consider Ateez my ult of ults if that makes sense…) These three I consider my ults because generally they are the ones I follow closest, I often enjoy their comebacks the most, I’m most attached to them, their music and members. It used to be I’d just pick one ult group but these three I would be constantly switching who’s my ult and who isn’t so I feel like all three are my ults in the end. I consider Ateez my ult of ults as I would say overall I follow them just a tad more than I do the other two groups.

Here's how it works imv:

Ult group = the one group you're most invested in

Stan groups = the handful of groups that are your favorites, but not necessarily your ult. Meaning, you know a lot of things about them - their names, birthdays, what they look like, etc. - but not everything, and you still love the music but not necessarily enough to go to a concert or buy merch. I think @Jimimis brought up a good point about who can go on your stan list. It doesn't mean at all that you have to list every group you listen to - just the ones you like THE MOST.

"Getting to know better" groups = groups you've recently started really liking but you don't know enough about to be considered a stan of. It doesn't have to be a group that just debuted in like the past year, but it can also be a more well-established group.

Casual groups = every other group you listen to that doesn't fit any of the above categories
