I was once home alone and heard a SUPER loud bang like something heavy had been pushed over.
I ran down into the basement because at the time we had two cats and that was where their litterboxes were
I was thinking that something could've fallen on them and panicked and just darted down the stairs to make sure they were ok.
But once I got down stairs nothing was knocked over.
Everything was in it's place.

All heavy objects were upright and not bothered and my cats were nowhere to be found down there.
It's was so loud I literally heard it from the second story and could not find out what made the damn noise.​

When I still lived at my parent's house, my room was right below my sister's.
One night (it was around 3am), I heard heavy footsteps from my sister's room and got so mad, bc why would she walk that loudly in the middle of the night?

OMFG SAME...but I don't find it spooky. I find it oddly comforting-I'll sometimes smell my dogs bad breath too.

One time i was home alone and i randomly heard like my brother laughing and it sounded like his tv was on, i paused the video i was watching and still heard it, i opened the door to my room and it stopped, i continued watching my video and i heard his tv again and footsteps, i opened the door again and it stopped, i kept the door and i didnt hear it again

It didn't happen to me necessarily, but in 12th grade science, we were dissecting our animal, and if I say what it was y'all would hate me, but one of the other girls in the class said she could've sworn she heard hers making the typical noise that animal makes... and all the specimens were already dead before we dissected them.

i actually have a few:

1. i was watching a video or something and i hear a HORRIBLE scream come from our backyard so i quietly looked out the window and there was nothing there.

2. me and my friends were telling scary stories last week and all the lights in our uni started flashing for a couple seconds.

3. once when i was home alone i kept hearing footsteps and doors rattling and it scared the crap out of me

and this last one didn't happen to me but it happened to by friend. they were home alone in their grandma's house and kept hearing a baby crying when there was NO baby. turns out their grandma had a baby once but it died at a young age. anyways they kept hearing crying sounds but they eventually stopped but then after a while when the crying had stopped they heard the sounds of footsteps coming from right behind them but there was no one

Because that was the typical animal of choice for dissections in high school where I went to school. Also, I work in vet med so cadavers (dogs/Cats etc.) are regularly used in my field to help vets learn and techs learn as well.

I'm not hating on anyone, I know it's necessary for education purposes (even though I'm a massive cat person).

I can only think of when that one time I walked into my bedroom, and I heard my ballerina music box playing on its own...
I was freaked out for a moment. (it felt like something out of a horror movie.)

But that was because the box was standing on my writing desk and was kinda broken (it used to play music if you spun the rod thing and then opened the box, where a ballerina would be dancing. But now it can played when closed because the ballerina broke.). I think I was bumping into that writing desk while walking, and that made that music box play on its own. (also that I might have once tried to make it play music by spinning the rod thing, but it perhaps didn't work back then)

I'm not so good at explaining this...
But nope, it wasn't a thing that made me feel as if I was haunted by ghosts.
It was more of a "WHAT THE FREAKING HECK????- Oh... now I know why it did that." lol

My brother bought an old house in Ireland some years ago. The former owner died of Alzheimer's. But he refused to leave his house and died there. I spent part of my summer vacation with my brother and when he told me that the house is haunted, I laughed at him. I believe in ghosts, but an old haunted house in Ireland sounded just too cliché.

Later in the evening we all sat in the living room (me, my brother, his wife). Suddenly we heard footsteps on the basement stairs.

I ran to the basement door and opened it. Nothing. I went down in the basement - no one was there. My brother shouted: "I told you!". I went back in the living room. About five minutes later we heard the footsteps again. After that it became quiet for this night. We heard the footsteps again after two days, for the last time so far.

The next day I was in the basement to get some tools. I heard a male voice saying 'salvation' next to me. At that time my brother and his wife went shopping. I was the only person in the house.

At that day my brother called some co-workers who helped clearing out the basement. After the former owner's furniture were finally removed, there were no further incidents. Apparently the ghost of the old man left with his belongings (and memories).
