Huh?? How do we change timezomes if we don’t move? Like I know the time change exists and moves things by an hour but we are still in ESTOne hour off, we arent in EST anymore![]()
No, if we never had daylight savings yes we would be in EST. But now that we switched time we are now in EDT, and will remain EDT until we switch again. After all, if you think about it, it couldn’t work if the whole geographic strip of EST remained EST at all times because there’s countries that fall under EST that don’t have daylight saving time, so that would mean that when we change time in the spring EST would mean both UTC -4 and UTC -5 because some countries switched and some didn’t. I’m actually pretty sure that any area that switches time has 2 timezones depending in the time of year because from what I know time zones never actually change time wise. like EST is always UTC -5 and UTC never changes, meaning we switch to a new timezone (EDT, UTC -4) to compensate for daylight savings. Does that make sense?Huh?? How do we change timezomes if we don’t move? Like I know the time change exists and moves things by an hour but we are still in EST![]()
I was under the impression my whole life we were in EST the whole year round - my life is a lieNo, if we never had daylight savings yes we would be in EST. We are in Eastern Time (ET) all year round, ET is basically a catch all for EST and EDT to mean whatever eastern timezone you’re in now. But if agreeing upon times for people to meet or something internationally then ET seems like it sucks because no one actually knows if that means you’re UTC -4 or UTC -5I was under the impression my whole life we were in EST the whole year round - my life is a lie![]()
