What is your worst doctor/hospital experience? (1 Viewer)

I'm going to a doctor for the first time since losing my health insurance so I'm curious.
I haven't had anything obscenely bad happen due to staff, just some frustrating inconveniences.​

I was in the hospital for some time and it took them 3-4 days I believe to give me my proper medications in the right dosages. I told them immediately that they were wrong and outdated when they gave me the meds the first time and they were like “yeah we’ll check”. It only got fixed when I talked to a doctor (not just because of that, it was a scheduled meeting for other stuff but it got brought up). Some of the doses were really off too. They gave me 50 mg of one (I was supposed to take 300), gave me one that I had stopped a good year or so before, and didn’t give me one that I have been taking for ages, among other issues. Almost all of them were wrong to some degree.

Also at that same hospital time there was another patient who was loud and screaming at 3 AM about how if she wasn’t released she’d call the police. I already had a very hard time sleeping because the meds I took mostly for sleep had just been reduced 6 times. She also told the doctor that she has homicidal thoughts (not suicidal, someone asked me if she could have meant that but they asked her about that too and she said she didn’t). Her behavior wasn’t the hospitals fault realistically, but the other parts were and it still led to a not good time.

I had a bad reaction to anesthesia after my facelift in 2002. I had trouble breathing when I was waking up, so they had to put me on a breathing machine overnight. Obvs I'm fine and everything, and it was more traumatic for my mom than for me, but yeah.

16 hours in the ER. They were convinced I had an STD or was pregnant and did some invasive tests. Told them over and over again that I am a lesbian and do not engage in sexual activity. They did not believe me until they found something VERY wrong with a scan. Diagnosed with a rare condition.

When I was in my 20s, I had a root canal treatment. Unfortunately my usual dentist had an accident and was in hospital at that time. But I want a near-term treatment, so I went to a subsitute doctor. He made some tests and told me: "You seem to have a high pain tolerance. We don't need local anesthesia!"

Then I told him: "No problem, but what about your pain tolerance?"

Then I got my anesthesia.

The last time I had a check up they gave me a health scare. I get really nervous during my appointments so they thought there was something with my heart rate

Also, my mom basically was that woman last month in the hospital

I do hope she got help but I also can’t deny that among the many things I needed at the time, midnight screams about how she was going to sue everyone wasn’t on there

Also I forgot to mention another thing that shows how little they knew about my meds. I got a blood test done there because I took a medication that needs to be checked when you start taking it or increase the dose. I had been taking it for some time, but because the time to increase to a dose that is viewed as high enough to help is a while, I had only started taking a dose high enough to help a few days prior, and that would not be enough to allow it to reach a high enough level in my blood. But because they don’t bother to look at stuff like that, they came up to me and asked me why I’ve been skipping out on taking my medications, when I had been following the schedule exactly.

I have no doubt someone’s labeled me as a drug seeker because they’ve messed up my meds and I had to tell them the medications I take I mean I’ve already been labeled at someone who smokes weed for exactly zero legitimate reason. The more I go back to this thread the more stuff I think of

When I went to get my first widsom tooth removed. It was the upper right wisdom tooth that was removed first (it also was partially erodded, but that didn't matter since I had to get it removed).

The thing is that I went to a Dental School to get my widsom tooth removed. Yeah, that was the biggest mistake on both my mom and I's part. I had a student trying to do a widsom tooth extraction while on local anethesia. The student struggled to remove the tooth to the point that they needed to call her boss to help her out. Apparently it was a bloody sight and I saw fragments of my tooth be removed... What was supposed to be a short procedure turned to be a 1 1/2 hour procedure instead...

Also, recovering from that wisdom tooth removal was horrible.

We never went back to the dental school for the other widsom teeth removals + coronectomy
