Dystopian? Like, I know some people have been making the world a living hell ( Certain old men that come off the top of my head )
But what do you think???

the way we view money is screwed tbh, it's great because it allowed development to proceed at the speeds it did but it's simply not sustainable right now
you can't have both the economy doing well with constant growth while salaries don't match the housing prices, but unless there is a great population collapse then large swaths of the population would have their investments wiped by drops in housing valuations
I heard a story about how a junior trader at one of the bulge brackets got moved up the priority list for promotions after they were the only one to stick on the trading desk while the fukushima nuclear was happening, and if you read up about high finance stories or anything in that bermuda triangle of talent around it's scary how risking your health for the paycheck is so normalized in even these seemingly prestigious jobs that, on paper, offer so much more upwards mobility

There's something to be said for progress itself, though. I visited Poland almost 25 years ago and my impression was no better than yours, I mostly remember kids begging for money outside McDonalds and old concrete buildings with no glass in the windows but today it's one of the safest countries in Europe with one of the fastest growing economies. While I understand your feelings and that they don't necessarily mean that you aren't proud of your country, I hope you can at least take pride in this.

It reminds me of South Korea which has gone from a third world country to a huge tech economy with cultural exports enjoyed all across the world in just a few decades. Evolution has no goal, it's simply motion.

chaos, that's messed up. everything's about money nowadays. yes, I don't like that people risk their lives for money ( either to keep their family with a house or whatever ) but they need the money to live ( food, water, shelter )
It's a terrible situation: You need to support your family but risk your life for it

ah, wow... that's terrible and messy. I searched and there may be around 30, 000 homeless people ? I don't know if that's true though
I also searched and it said there are restrictive rights ?
( I don't know if these are true though )

I get it, it comes out of my mouth too but since I follow a lot of fashion and finance there's been many women also outed for selling out their like too so I'm more sensitive about it (naomi when I catch you), still in shock at how goldman sachs is still around protecting her (and also wtf is going on @ citi)
it's boohoo so sad poor rich people when talking about high finance, big law, and consulting but there's something depressing about these fields being sold as good starting points for smart and driven young people to gain good financial stability where they can then theoretically pivot to anything they like when really, all of them have serious cultural problems of abuse and the professional mobility isn't really a thing
it's disarming how 110h+ work weeks are held as one of the best ways for upwards social mobility for smart kids who could be using their talents and ambition elsewhere where they're not supporting systems that inherently work against their favour

i would've been definitely proud of these things if they had reflected the quality of life here, meanwhile most young polish people will likely never afford an apartment to live in, it's hard to get a job unless you live in one of the 2-3 biggest cities and support for extreme right-wing pro-russian lunatics in polish politics is on the rise so it's hard for me to take pride in that even though technically it could have been worse

I wish we had honestly learned from our past mistakes. maybe us as a community can pitch in, but certain someone's are making people suffer just because they are different from them
people had some very awful actions years back ( 1900s ) and way before that, even now. we have lots of hatred in the air, it seems, to people just because they are different from us

I'm sorry to hear that. I only have an outside perspective of Poland so I can't say much more but I can relate to what you're saying, all of Europe is kind of in a spot right now.

the world right now is what one might say not in a good place
there are lots of conflict and disagreement and even in your home country - the US is not a lot of things resolved by violence?
the rule of law and complying with the law is almost non-existent (for those in power)

like is the choice between living under constantly oppression and abuse better than picking up arms and taking matters into one's own hands????

I mean think of the logical outcome of every case where people don't do what they are suppose to do and defy laws or courts etc etc
I mean if I were to rob a bank and the police try to arrest me I can use force against the police and they will use force against me aka violence

even in non criminal situations the ultimate threat used is violence in order to get people to do what they are suppose to do no?

one might even argue that there is no country in the world that currently has peace that has not achieved such without the use of violence

and of course my friend - it's not like I'm advocating for violence but it is the natural and logical outcome in many situations. We are merely philosophising on violence on a grand scale and certainly do not go around beating up your neighbour or whatever lol
