Apparently some people think it’s leave them behind I was recommended an article about how search and rescue needed to be called after a group of hikers left a hiker behind for being “too slow” and later couldn’t find him. He luckily appeared in the end.

Yeah, more people need to think that way. Hiking can be very dangerous, especially if you go on a longer or more remote hike. And especially if you don’t have signal. Even when you’re well prepared accidents can happen, and you never know when you’ll end up unable to continue on with no way of calling for help. I know that’s a big jump from water breaks but I do see so many stories of people needing to be rescued and such and I wish that others took the dangers more seriously, and didn’t pull stunts like leaving the one slower hiker behind

That's one reason why I almost always hike alone - I can set the pace.
