Different varieties hv different textures n tastes, but the smell is probably standard. There probably hasnt been as much research as there seems to be for more common foods which smell repels certain people, like cucumber n maybe other common foods. Maybe cos its uncommon n the smell is too overwhelming, it can cover a room so if they research the smell, only those who can take the smell could be in the same room, LOL. Again i dont actually recommend it, just mentioning it as its sth grown in my country n i saw a tv report saying there was an excess of fruits last yr in my country n a neighbouring country where its also grown(probably most famous grower/exporter of durians) saying it couldnt be exported to biggest buyer of the fruit cos of covid. So it was sold quite cheaply but the cost of transportation was higher than the profits so distribution may hv been limited by tat.
