The romance is actually really fun and lighthearted even though it doesn't start like that-it's actually funny. If that doesn't sound right then Meddelin and Nathan. Her family is trying to cover up a murder at a wedding they are taking care of and of course the owner of the venue is her ex-lover (the one who got away).

Arin & Kestrel. ONE of my all time favorite book couples. One is the daughter of a general who does nothing but try to hide away from her privilege while going to the square and buying a slave, Arin; who so happens to catch her eye. But of course, this will be the end of her and her country.

THIS COUPLE LITERALLY KILLS ME AND I COULD RE-READ THEIR STORY FOR THE REST OF MY FUCKING LIFE.

I was going to say Delilah & Claire again because they both have to over come their personal stuff before they can stop being FWB and move onto an actual gentle and very loving relationship.

But I'd argue that Darcy & Brougham are the same. She has to overcome her internalized biphobia and he has to overcome what he thought were serious feelings sot hey both can move on from prior relationships/loves to be with each other.
