This reminds me of something very annoying I dealt with in second grade.

We had to do a presentation covering fashion or food from the medieval era and we were allowed to pick any country. I picked India and was given a confused face and told to pick another country.
Went with Italy and made a frittata.

Some other students picked other asian countries and were given the okay. Apparently Medieval India is a confusing concept for some.

fun fact: the medieval period in india saw the arrival of islam in northern india with violent invaders from the northwest (it is worth noting, however, that islam had already been introduced peacefully to regions on the western coast in like the 620s - 630s ish era.... yes, DURING the lifetime of the prophet, by arab traders. the oldest mosque in india was built in 629 AD). in delhi they established the delhi sultanate, which stretched over 320 years and 5 dynasties (mamluk, khilji, tughlaq, sayyid, and lodi). the arrival of islam to north india, along with the establishment of the delhi sultanate, brought about soooo many changes in the food, culture, music, and architecture of northern india.... and yet people choose to ignore it. i mean... if you insist then sure i guess the qutub minar doesn't exist anymore 🤷‍♂️, nor hindustani classical music as we know it today.

and that's just one PART of all that happened in that era (the part i remember the best from 7th grade history lol)... like please don't act like indian history is just one big non event
