If I lost interest in their music or the members, I would unstan a group.

If they got into really bad scandals, unless it was my bias, I would unstan the member in the scandal rather than the whole group.​

If a member left, for me it would throw off the dynamic of the group. That would probably make me unstan

1. If they disband
2. If they get into a major scandal
3. If they become too big (because apparently, fame can change people)
4. If the fans are more annoying than not (because unstanning a group due to the fandom is also a valid reason apparently)
5. If their music isn't appealing to you anymore (you might as well call yourself a casual listener since you only listen to their older releases)
6. If a member leaves the group (especially if the member leaving the group is your bias)
7. If you discover another group that is somehow better and/or more active than the previous group that you stanned (because people are impatient and greedy and if you don't release content often, only the most dedicated fans will stick around)

...and that's all I can think of for reasons why someone might unstan a group. Personally I tend to lean more toward the last three since those are some of the reasons why I unstanned 2 groups

Usually I stan a group is I lose interest in their music.
As for scandals (depending on how bad they are) I’ll drop the group. For example, I stopped stanning AOA when the bullying controversy came to light, and also dropped Seungri after realizing how god awful of a person he is

Either cause I didn't like their music anymore (I can tolerate bad comeback especially if I like some of the bsides) or if the member that was my bias left the group and I didn't feel as strongly about the others (there is some groups where I stan one of the members and just like the other members but don't follow their solo stuff).

ive not yet unstanned bc of scandals but i have unstanned just bc i dont feel a connection to them or their music so i have unstanned shinee pentagon and sf9 but i still actively enjoy them i just dont have that emotional connection to them

so like bts stopped being interesting to me, so i don't stan them even if i love their music and still support the members. nct i don't quite enjoy a lot of their music now so even if the members make me laugh all the time i am not much of an nctzen anymore, still hanging on cus of resonance tho

For my current groups it'd probably take a bad scandal as generally I just enjoy their singing so I don't see myself losing interest in their songs

if the original concept has changed too much i.e bts.. i wouldn't say i "stan" them anymore just support them now

if a member has come across homophobic.. nearly dropped svt cause woozi said "boys dont kiss"... but i got over it

as much as i dont like bullying ive never felt like unstanning a whole group due to it

I think it depends on what I stanned them for in the first place
if I did for the music, then when the music stops interesting me
if it's the members, when incidents that are hard to pass off happen
if it's a 48g group, when my oshimen graduate/leave/go ia

-disbandment or prolonged hiatus [or a general lack of new comebacks] (MyTeen, Shinee, f(x), Lovelyz)
-an unforgivable scandal (AOA)
-too many members to keep track of (NCT)
-loss of interest (Verivery, Vixx, Momoland)
-more rapping than singing (Stray Kids, Exo, Got7, OneUs)

I'm sure there are other reasons I've unstanned, but these are a few of them.
