For me if the idol is a minor I would definitely not take it seriously at all and call them my younger sibling etc.
If the idol is an adult I would probably go along with it so they don't feel like I'm rejecting them and make them feel awkward

I do the same with my friends. As long as you don’t cross any boundaries it’s funny to flirt without it going any further.
