If you like Asian food and keep buying scallions, keep the bottom and plant them in either dirt or water (dirt is more permanent I believe but not as simple). They can grow the tops back if you give them water and sunlight. That way you can keep growing them and can avoid having to buy them at the store. Not that they’re absurdly expensive at the store, but I notice that a lot of times when I buy from the store I don’t use them all up usually, so that’s not just an extra purchase but also kind of a waste of food. Ofc the scallions can die if you majorly fuck up (I asked someone to water mine while I was gone for 10 days and I don’t think they did) but they’re still on the easier side of plants to grow. Here’s mine, they aren’t fabulous but they taste good
