But you know there was a story behind why it was a law?

At some point, it became illegal under papal authority to put a corpse on trial. Reason? Just how it sounds, a pope put a dead body on trial. Unsurprisingly, the dead body did not win the trial

In Arizona it is illegal to let a donkey sleep in your bathtub.

This was put in place after 1924 when a donkey was sleeping in their owner's bathtub and a dam broke, flooding the area. The donkey was flushed down a canyon (still in the bathtub) and it took a long manhunt that cost a good amount of money to find the donkey (who survived and was perfectly fine).

So no donkeys sleeping in bathtubs allowed any more!

It would! Bathtubs are buoyant. They float. Donkeys, in general, do not.

So if the donkey wasn't in the bathtub, it wouldn't have been swept so far and been easier to find.

Also, if the donkey wasn't asleep, it would have jumped out, and not gone as far, and been easier to find.

So no sleeping donkeys in bathtubs!
