Likey by Twice.
@Horizonshard already knows this story, but now the rest of you guys get to hear it too. As a child, I liked being childish and cutesy and girly. Except, I never really outgrew that phase. I still do. It’s just who I am. Sadly, it seems not many people are like that. Most people outgrow that phase eventually, and don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with that at all. However, I was a young, impressionable child at the time and saw everyone else growing up around me, so even though no one (or I can’t remember them if they did) directly told me to “grow up” outright, I understood that that’s what most people did and what I would probably be expected to do as well. I wasn’t happy about it, but tried to do it anyway, or at least mask my childishness more so I wouldn’t be judged for it, since I’m a sensitive person.
Also, like with most people growing up, most of the music I was exposed to and knew of back then was either so childish that it was even too much for me (think of stuff you’d play in a classroom full of five year olds or younger), or was really mature. While some of it was better than others, and some of it was even good, none of it really felt like “me” if that makes sense. Either for babies or adult-ish, no Goldilocks “just right” music for me.
Fast forward a while, and I start getting into K-Pop during Covid. Because of this, my YouTube recommended starts suggesting me more K-Pop music videos and songs. One day, it suggests Likey. I click on it out of curiosity, and listen to it. I think by the time I get to the end of the song, I’m crying tears of happiness. Without ever looking, I have found the perfect song. It’s happy and bright, and they look like they’re having so much fun being childish and playful. For the longest time, I wanted to be like that, and seeing them being like that gave me hope that I can be that way too, regardless of my age. I finally found a song and music like me.
