I think it depens on which of the banners you have on top, like Nina has card team on top so she gets the green color, but if you would order the donor banner / role above it, you get that color. I'm not sure though if you can actually adjust it individually or its just a preset order

Each user group can be ordered, the highest priority one is the username color you have (for those with special Colors, a fandom one for example wouldn’t do anything). Changing the order of the colored usergroups will change the color the username is. It affects everyone with the user group though, so you can’t necessarily say “I want this staff color to be above this staff color” because it may very well mess with someone else’s, so it’s not so one thing staff can decide on their own unless it affects no one else.

do the lead roles count differently? Like Eclipsesoul is graphis lead, if she joined the cards team now, would her lead banner stay on top regardless of the regular graphis group?

Yes, the leads color is slightly different and it’s a whole new user group, so that’s its own thing.
